Big Garden Birdwatch 26th - 28th January 2024

The RSPB’s Big Garden Bird Watch runs from 26th to 28th January and you can take part by registering at The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) .  It’s a great way to involve the family (maybe keep them occupied?) for a couple of hours and you can post your results on line or by snail mail (watch out for thrushes).

But in Sully & Lavernock we’re taking it a stage further, we’re going to have a BIG VILLAGE BIRD WATCH.  This will tell us what diversity of bird life we have in the community by getting together in the Jubilee Hall at 4.00pm on Sunday 28th to share our results, have a cuppa and one (or more) of Cllr Bowring’s famous Welsh Cakes.  All we ask is that you let us know how many of you will be coming for the catering by emailing sullycouncil@btconnect.com.

This year could be particularly interesting as the cold weather may bring some unusual species into our gardens; redwings, fieldfares, maybe the odd waxwing.  To our surprise the RSPB tell us that we’re breaking new ground with this, they know of no other comparable community initiative, so let’s make it work.
